#4 Drilling Unit
The #4 Drilling Unit employs a multi-plate friction safety clutch to drive the feed mechanism. At the end of the cycle the cam block stops against the trip latch. The worm climbs against the pressure spring to en able the clutch discs to sep arate. Each gear segment has a 2:1 ratio, so the quill stroke is twice that of the cam. Non-reversing motors are totally enclosed, flanged mounted, high-torque and non-ventilated. |
#16 Drilling Unit
The #16 Drilling Unit is simiIlar to the 4 drill but is larger and has a longer stroke. The trip and index control for all these units may be electrical or air. All have lubricating pumps that supply oil to all points. 16 Drills and 17 Taps use the same mounting adapters as models 22 and 23, but the spindles are two inches higher. |

#22 Drilling Unit
The #22 Drilling Unit is equipped with positive feed and a feed clutch with interlocking teeth. If the tool should meet too much resistance a ball type safety clutch disengages the feed. The cam follower roll is on the quill itself. A lubricating pump operates whenever the motor is running. The trip and index control may be electrical or air. Non reversing motors are totally enclosed, flange mounted, high torque, and fan cooled. Oil mist lubrication optional. |
