Kingsbury vertical index machines are designed to perform successive opposed operations in the same chucking. For operations on three planes of a part, machines are laid out with up to 2 pairs of units on the top deck, with 2 pairs of units on the lower deck, and up to 4 radial units. For opposed operations onl, up to 3 pairs of units may be mounted on the top deck, with 2 pairs of units on the lower deck. Extra long adapters and adjusting screws provide easy access to all units. Dual-roller Geneva index drive provides positive, efficient indexing. Eight indexing stations are standard. Indexing direction may be up and away from, or down and away from the operator.
Typical operations performed on vertical index machines: drill, ream, face, bore, seat, turn, chamfer, tap, thread, recess, mill, c'sink, form, insert bushings, and other similar operations. Up to 12 units may be mounted on a machine.
